BUTTONS, BEADS AND EMBROIDERY

Learn basic embroidery stitches while decorating a shirt or pillow; then build on your design with beads, buttons, fancy fibers, etc. Bring a T-shirt, an undecorated pillow, and other items you may wish to jazz up. Various techniques will be demonstrated. Clothing from your wardrobe which may need spots or worn places covered is great fun to work on; or you may start with new items. There is no limit to the imaginative ways you can dress up the plainest outfit, making a one-of-a-kind conversation piece for yourself or someone special. The beautiful scenery of the Warwick Valley provides the setting for exploring the exciting medium of watercolor at your own level of creativity. Learn the principles and basic elements of watercolor in a relaxed setting to produce a painting that expresses you. Study shapes, color, value, direction, and texture under the direction of a noted artist/instructor. Learn from demonstrations, individual help, and critiques. Explore new ideas, and enjoy a truly creative experience. Visit a local art gallery. For beginner and intermediate students.

PRIME TIME FELLOWSHIP AUTUMN ADVENTURE

JOSEPH: FROM THE PIT TO THE PALACE
Our Autumn Adventure Bible study will focus on the biblical theme of forgiveness based on the stories of the Old Testament character, Joseph. We will study the circumstances and the people in Joseph’s life, the depth of his forgiveness, and his conviction that his brothers’ cruel scheme was used by God to preserve life. This Old Testament character will assist us to take a fresh look at our need to forgive.

MUSIC OF THE 1960’s
Savor the sounds that carried over from the ’50s plus Elvis, the Beatles, Janis, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Motown, Vietnam and Woodstock via lecture, CDs and DVDs. A trip to the Bethel Woods Museum, the original Woodstock site, is included.

PICTURES WITH PIZZAZZ: PAINTING WITH OILS AND ACRYLICS

Enjoy a week working with the excellent and forgiving medium of acrylics in addition to painting with oils. The emphasis will be on developing good composition, creating clean color, and learning tips about perspective and the effects of light. Daily demonstrations and critiques will move students’ progress along quickly. Both indoor and outdoor painting. Challenge yourself to paint more boldly and fearlessly. ORANGE COUNTY GENEALOGY RESEARCH WEEK

Do you have roots in Orange County, New York? Are you interested in doing genealogical research on your family tree? The O.C.G.S. volunteer staff will guide you in researching your roots and assist you in the Research Library during your stay. The Research Library is open Monday through Thursday from 9:15 a.m until 4:15 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and on Friday morning from 8:00 a.m. until noon. Breakfast and dinner is provided each day; lunch is on your own. Transportation to the Goshen Research Library is provided.
